Supported Interns Call for Workforce Equality
28 March 2025
In recognition of National Supported Internship Day, our Supported Interns took a stand to advocate for greater inclusivity in the workforce.
As part of the initiative, Supported Interns wrote letters to their local MPs, highlighting the importance of supported internships and the challenges they face as they transition into employment.
In their letters, the interns addressed key challenges such as limited job opportunities and the need for more workplace support and accessibility, but also the impact their supported internship has had on their lives. By sharing their personal experiences, they hope to influence policymakers to prioritise initiatives that promote inclusivity in employment. The initiative aimed to bring attention to the critical role that supported internships play in helping young individuals develop practical skills, build confidence and gain real-world work experience.
Supported internships are widely recognized for their positive impact, offering young people tailored guidance and real-world exposure to the workforce. Programs like these empower individuals to break down barriers, challenge societal stereotypes and gain the skills necessary to thrive in a professional environment.
As the conversation around inclusivity in employment grows, their message serves as a reminder of the crucial need for policies that support diversity and equal opportunities. Their efforts on National Supported Internship Day demonstrate the power of young voices in driving meaningful change and advocating for a more inclusive future.
