Adam, who is studying A Level Maths, Chemistry and Physics at NSCG Newcastle College, received the award in recognition of his long-standing dedication to Scouting and his positive impact on the local community.

Since the age of six, Adam has been involved with his local Scout group, beginning as a Beaver and working his way up to the Explorer group.

He has since gone on to support the Cub Pack as a young leader and is known for his enthusiasm, politeness and consideration, making him a fantastic role model for younger Scouts.

As well as his commitments within the Scouting community, Adam plays hockey at a high level and also represents NSCG’s Academy of Sport. He is also completing his Duke of Edinburgh Award with the College, as well as being part of the Honours Programme - an additional pathway for students whose aspirations are to progress onto competitive courses at top universities, such as those in the Russell Group.

Speaking about his award, Adam said: “I am honoured to receive this distinguished award. The awards presentation evening was amazing and it was great to meet like-minded people and to hear what they have done in the community. Since being a young leader, I have loved giving back to scouting and helping others get as much out of the organisation as I have."

NSCG proudly sponsored the Young Hero category and Principal and Chief Executive Craig Hodgson had the pleasure of attending the ceremony to present Adam with his award.

Craig said: “I was delighted to present the Young Hero Award to Adam and I’m incredibly proud to see one of our own students recognised for such a well-deserved achievement.

“Adam’s dedication to Scouting, alongside his academic studies and sporting commitments, is truly inspiring. We’re delighted to have supported this award category and to celebrate the amazing young people making a difference in the local community.”
