Level 3 Extended Diploma in Music Performance

Course overview

This exciting vocational course is designed to offer a broad look at the many aspects of the music industry with a focus on music performance. This enjoyable course will provide you with the technical ability and encourages a high level of creativity. You will also develop your knowledge of music history, music theory, aural skills, composing, songwriting and music production.

This two year programme is centred round you as a musician with a view to improving and/or maximising your current performance skills, your ability to learn and explore new and different styles of music, improve your ability to work as a solo and ensemble musician, and to learn about the music industry.

The course is designed around a number of music projects, such as live performance projects showcasing your work in-house and within the local community, composition or song writing tasks, events organisation and management and research assignments.

As part of your study programme here at the College alongside your chosen course you will complete a maths and/or English qualification if you have not already achieved a grade 4-9 or above. (This will be a GCSE for all students with a grade 3).

The study programme will also incorporate a range of work related experience activities to ensure that you have the breadth of skills required to progress to further/higher education, employment or an apprenticeship

What else do I need to know?

As a student of Music, you will be taught in our purpose-built, state-of-the-art Performing Arts Centre, recording studios and computer music suites. Most of our assignments and resources are online so that you can access them from home as well as in College. We provide lots of opportunities for our students to experience real world industry experience through performing at or event managing gigs, as well as creating and launching your own music.
