Introduction to Entry Level English for Speakers of Other Languages

Course overview

The introductory course will help you establish your starting point for your English skills, as well as increasing your confidence to progress onto a nationally recognised qualification. During the introductory course, you will complete an initial and diagnostic assessment to establish your learning gaps and produce an individualised learning plan.

Teaching will be taught in a holistic way, combining all skills to ensure you are prepared for life in the UK. You will be encouraged to improve your speaking/listening skills using discussion/role play and presentations at a higher level. Different reading and writing strategies are used along with exam techniques, with lessons supporting everyday life activities. For example writing will focus on: letter writing, emails and article writing. Grammar is embedded into classes along with themes that comply with a citizenship element, such as: government/problem solving and education. Students are encouraged to work in groups, pairs or independently to gain confidence and encourage expression along with the use of colloquial expressions.

The introductory course is a trial period of 6 weeks. This will ensure you are enrolled on the correct level and course to suit your needs.

There is an initial cost prior to enrolment, with 2 additional payments during the academic year, prior to taking the exams.
