Level 2 Diploma in Performing Engineering Operations

Course overview

If you enjoy understanding how things work, problem
solving and making things, this course can develop your
skills and put you in a better position to work in the
exciting field of engineering.

You’ll learn how to use machine tools, measuring and
inspection equipment and get to grips with techniques
such as fabrication, welding and materials processing. You’ll be studying in our engineering workshops and classrooms, where you’ll have access to state-of-the-art equipment and taught the technical and practical aspects of engineering by our team of experienced and qualified tutors.

You will study four days a week including compulsory work experience to give you the employability to go and work in the engineering operations industry. The programme of study includes engineering operations, English, maths, work experience, enterprise ideas and problem solving. You will first be assessed in English and maths before taking an exam in your vocational area of study. Work to occupation standards of health and safety. Learn how to use machine tools and hand tools to produce components to meet industry standards. Use measuring and inspection equipment to check for accuracy of components. Develop engineering communication skills. Introduction to apprenticeships and routes to employment.
