Course overview
The course aims to equip you with the skills and qualifications to progress onto a Level 1 programme or to improve your chances of obtaining paid employment. This is a one year course and you can try various units from a range of vocational pathways including Early Years, Health and Social Care, Sport and Public Services, Business and IT. Units will include Skills for Learning, Team Challenge Finding out about a topicYou will attend maths and English to develop your skills whilst working towards an end of year exam.
What else do I need to know?
You will be required to take part in a work experience placement during the final term of the course.What are the entry requirements?
This programme has no formal entry requirements, but you should be able to work at Entry Level 3.
How is it assessed?
The main programme is assessed via a completed portfolio of work and functional skills are assessed via end of year examination where appropriate.
What financial support is on offer?
This course is free for anyone aged 16 – 18. If you are outside this age group please contact 01782 254188.
College Maintenance Allowance (CMA): Anyone with a household income under £23,000 can receive up to £20 per week financial support to help pay for travel and meals and meet the costs of essential trips, books, stationery and equipment. The payments will be subject to full attendance on your course. A range of other financial support is available, depending on your personal circumstances.
