Course overview
The BTEC Extended Diploma in Esports is equivalent to three A Levels and offers students the chance to study many of the different areas within the video gaming industry. Throughout the course you will complete modules relating to Esports Skills and Strategies, Health and Wellbeing for Players, Managing Esports Events, Computer Games Design, Producing and Managing a Brand, Video Production and Broadcast and Computer Networking it will also give you the opportunity to progress to higher education or a career in Esports.The course is about organised, competitive, human-versus-human video-gaming where people play against each other online and at live spectator events. You will study Mandatory Units in:

- EsportsSkills, Strategies and Analysis
- Health, Wellbeing and Fitness for Esports Players
- Enterprise and Entrepreneurship in the Esports Industry
- Esports Events

Competitions will also take place with the British E-Sports championships for Colleges and students are expected to be familiar with the more popular Esports titles and their operation as part of their course.
Maths and English
Alongside your course you will have the opportunity to study maths and/or English to improve your skills in these vital subjects by attending structured weekly sessions as part of your timetable. Maths and English will
also be assessed in all your work throughout
your course.

You will need a minimum of four or more high grades at
GCSE in subjects relevant to the course you’d
like to study, including maths and/or English
Language at grade 4 or above. Alternatively, you’ll need a Level 2 Extended Certificate with overall Merit in a
relevant subject plus maths and/or English at grade 3 .

How is it assessed?
You are continuously assessed throughout the course which is assessed through 100% coursework - no exams.
For each unit, awarding body criteria have to be met. Your tutors ensure that you are given opportunities to do this through projects, video evidence, actual production materials and participation in events / event hosting with witness testimonials.
Your timetable will include independent study time to enable you to consolidate the work carried out in lectures.

What financial support is on offer?

College Maintenance Allowance (CMA): Anyone with a household income under £23,000 can receive up to £20 per week financial support to help pay for travel and meals and meet the costs of essential trips, books, stationery and equipment. The payments will be subject to full attendance on your course. A range of other financial support is available, depending on your personal circumstances. What can I do next?
The Extended Diploma in Esports provides understanding and skills to enter a wide variety of careers including PR/Marketing/social media, event manager, professional ESports player, video production editor, data analyst, shoutcaster. It also qualifies you to progress to higher education at Higher National Diploma/Certificate or Degree Level. (You will also achieve UCAS points).
