Course overview
This course will introduce you to further accounting and financial skills. You will learn about financial administration and have the opportunity to gain a qualification which will allow you to move into a career in accountancy and finance.The AAT qualification will help you develop the accounting skills needed in the workplace, as well as IT skills and an understanding of professional ethics.
AAT is the Uks leading qualification and membership body for accounting staff. As a professional body, AAT offers membership to both student and qualified Accounting Technician members.
AAT qualifications are widely recognised by employers in the accounting sector. Learn about accounts preparation, producing final accounts for sole traders and partnerships. You will also learn about costs and revenues, professional ethics, filling in VAT returns and spreadsheet software.

You will need to have completed the AAT Certificate in Accountancy Level 2 to sign up to this course. Aplicants considering starting at level 3 without the AAT level 2 qualification must discuss this with the course manager before enrolling.
How is it assessed?
The course is assessed through a variety of exams.
What financial support is on offer?
If you are 19-23, it is your first Level 3, and are studying an SFA approved Level 3 programme you may be eligible for full fee remission.
You can apply for an Advanced Learning Loan or Higher Education Loan to help with the costs of your course if you are 19 or older and the course you are studying is an eligible Level 3, 4, 5 or 6 course.

What can I do next?
You can progress on to the AAT Diploma in Accounting Level 4 course at the college. Once all three levels of the AAT qualification have been achieved you will be a qualified accounting technician and can apply for full professional membership of AAT as long as you can satisfy their work experience requirements. You may then consider continuing your studies to become a qualified accountant. Each of the professional institutes (ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW and CIPFA) accepts AAT qualified accounting technicians onto their programmes of study, and all offer exemptions.
