Course overview
This course is ideal if you wish to develop knowledge and practical experience of the principles of accounting.Units include:
- Introduction to Bookkeeping
- Processing Bookkeeping Transactions
- Priniciples of Control Accounts
- Priniciples of Costing
- Business Awareness
- Work Effectively in Accounting & Finance
You will learn through experiencing a varied programme which includes solving simulated problems, lectures, group work, discussions and attempting past exam papers. You will also be required to study away from weekly lectures to ensure exam success.

Entry to the Level 2 Certificate is by a grade C in GCSE Maths, an appropriate level of Business English and some accounting experience. Students without any accounting experience are advised to attend a short Bookkeeping course which we offer and this will give an excellent introduction to the accounting process as required in the Level 2 studies.
How is it assessed?
Each unit is assessed by an externally set, computer based examination where a minimum of 70% of the marks are required to demonstrate competency.
