Course overviewThe HND Computing is taught by experienced industry professionals and aims to develop your theoretical and practical knowledge of computing which will get you equipped with the understanding and skills for success in employment in the Computing industry.
This qualification is classed as a Higher Technical Qualification (HTQ), which has been approved by the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education as meeting occupational standards for the relevant sector. This qualification has been developed by awarding bodies in collaboration with employers and businesses to ensure that you get the specific training, knowledge and skills required for your chosen career, whether you’re just starting out within the sector or looking to upskill and retrain.
The HND course is made up of units at Level 5, with credits awarded for each unit. These units could include:

> Business Intelligence
> Emerging Technologies
> App Development
> e-commerce and Strategy
> Games Development
> User Experience and Interface
What else do I need to know?The course runs on both a full-time and part-time basis with classes held in the daytime. The full-time HND course lasts for one year and is studied over two full days each week.
The part-time HND course runs over two years and you will attend college for one afternoon/evening per week.
To help you there is a course team of friendly, approachable tutors committed to your success. Your Curriculum Leader and Course Tutors will meet with you regularly to discuss your progress.
What are the entry requirements?
You will also need to have completed at least four GCSEs including mathematics and English or equivalent and a level 3 qualification or equivalent.
For mature candidates (over 21 years of age) who can evidence a satisfactory and relevant work experience portfolio would be favourably considered and academic requirements may be waived. Please contact our course leader for more information.
