Course overview

The OCN NI Level 1 Award in Introduction to Counselling Skills qualification is aimed to introduce learners to the concept and purpose of counselling, as well as the ethical considerations and skills used in a counselling situation. Learners must successfully complete both units in the qualification for a total of 3 credits.

Furthermore this award aims to rovide you with the basic counselling skills and underpinning knowledge required to progress on to higher level Counselling qualifications. Topics will include, how counselling can be used in conjunction with other therapies and treatments, benefits and limitations of counselling, skills and attributes of an effective counsellor, barriers to effectice communication in a counselling situation and how to apply counselling to a range of scenarios.

What are the entry requirements?

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

What financial support is on offer?

Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group is pleased to be able to offer financial support to help students meet the costs of attending College.
If you are on state benefits or are on a low income you may be entitled to fee remission towards your course. *This is at the Colleges discretion.
