Andres Dacayanan, Level 3 Health and Social Care Apprentice from Stafford College, part of Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group (NSCG), received the ‘Highly Commended award’ at the 2019 British Asian Apprenticeship Awards for his progression within his apprenticeship at the Manor House Care Home in Stafford.
Now in their fourth year, The British Asian Apprenticeship Awards celebrate the talent and diversity of British Asian Apprentices, their employers and learning providers. This year’s prestigious awards ceremony took place on Tuesday 29 October at Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham and saw a number of talented apprentices from up and down the country compete.
Out of 12 industry specific categories, Andres was nominated in the Health, Medical and Social Care category, alongside many other talented apprentices from within the sector. Stafford College Health and Social Care Assessor, Glenys Green, who nominated Andres, said: “I nominated Andres for the award as he has progressed massively since beginning his apprenticeship with the Manor House Care Home. He began at Level 2 with very little knowledge and has quickly progressed onto Level 3. Andres’ skill and dedication was recognised within the organisation, resulting in him being promoted to Senior Care Worker.”
On winning the award, Andres said: “I feel really lucky to have been nominated for this award. I couldn’t have got where I am today without the support of my assessor and the staff at Stafford College.”
NSCG currently works with over 850 employers in a range of industries including Health and Social Care, Childcare, Design, Business and Administration, Construction, Engineering, Motor Vehicle and more. Key employer partners include ABB, Siemens, Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council, Keele University, Knights Solicitors and many more.
