Students studying on the Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Business Management at Newcastle College, were recently tasked with developing a ‘summer themed’ creative marketing campaign for global coffee brand, Starbucks, as part of their course.

Groups of students went head-to-head to pitch their ideas to a panel of judges, which included; Jo Howell (Deputy Catering Manager at Newcastle College), Joe Hambleton (Senior Marketing & PR Officer, NSCG) and college tutors Charlotte Thompson and Jenna Beech.

The winning campaign was pitched by students Lucy Harrison, Lucy Cattell, Dan Beeston, Megan Sturge and Conall Hulse. Their ‘taste from around the world’ campaign was a 4 week initiative offering different flavoured drinks to represent various countries including; Thailand, Australia, Jamaica and Spain. The students were presented with certificates of excellence and a trophy for their campaign proposal.

Charlotte Thompson, Curriculum Leader in Business said: “This has been a really exciting brief for the students to get involved in and the students have thoroughly enjoyed having their learning brought to life. I and the rest of the College staff have been seriously impressed with the students’ professionalism and creativity throughout the whole process.”
