Hair & Beauty students from Stafford College have once again impressed industry judges by winning a number of awards at the national AHT Hair & Beauty Competitions held in Blackpool on Monday 23 May 2022.

Stafford College Hair and Beauty learners entered five categories and were up against 12-15 competitors in each category of The Association of Hairdressers and Therapists competition in Blackpool.

Level 3 Hair & Media Make-up student Sophie Gelatka was crowned the winner in the 'Advanced Half Body Painting' category with her robot-themed look. Ella Smith achieved 4th place in 'Face Painting' for her horror theme and also 4th place for 'Bridal Hair Make-up'.

Well done to Level 2 Hair & Media Make-up student Gemma Porter who entered the 'Full Face Painting' category with the theme horror, and to Level 3 Hair & Media Make-up student Maisie Ponting who competed in the category ‘Create an image based on a theme’ with the theme Carnival.

Commenting on the success of the students, Lorraine Drayton, Curriculum Manager for Hairdressing and Beauty at NSCG, said: “Once again, our learners have done themselves and NSCG proud. Reaching the nationals of this prestigious industry competition, the skills and talents of our students have really shone through. It's such a high-profile event to attend and we hope that everyone enjoyed the experience of competing at a national level. Members of the AHT include teachers, trainers or assessors of hairdressing or therapy subjects, who are either working towards or currently hold teaching/assessing qualifications so it's also an amazing networking opportunity for everyone. ”
