Stafford College, part of Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group, is set to host their second Virtual Open Event on Saturday 20 June between 10am and 12noon.
The Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ college will be ‘virtually’ opening their doors to prospective students and their families in order to give them a taste of what it’s like to study at one of the country’s top performing colleges, all from the comfort of their own homes.
Due to the current Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation, on the instruction of the Department for Education and UK Government, NSCG closed their campuses to the majority of students on Friday 20 March until further notice. To ensure young people and their families can still get the opportunity to explore their post-16 education options, staff from the College have been working hard from their homes in order to create a dedicated Virtual Open Event.
Just like a usual Open Event, visitors to the online event will be able to explore the campuses top-class facilities, live chat with teaching staff, hear from NSCG’s Principal, get an overview of the outstanding student support on offer, and apply for a course.
Karen Dobson, Principal and Chief Executive at NSCG, said: “The aim of our Virtual Open Event is to provide school leavers with the full range of education options available at NSCG, so that they can make an informed choice about their future studies. The current Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation is a worrying and uncertain time for all, including young people experiencing disruption to their examinations. However, holding a Virtual Open Event is just one of the many steps we’re taking to ensure that we’re on hand to offer advice and guidance, so that new learners joining us this year feel supported and on the right course, at the right level.”
Karen continues: “At NSCG, we have a long-established reputation for delivering excellent education and training and are one of the top colleges in the country, rated Outstanding in all areas by Ofsted. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to physically meet everyone that joins us online on Saturday, however visitors will get the opportunity to hear from myself at our Virtual Open Event, and on behalf of all at Stafford College, we’re really excited to ‘virtually’ showcase life at NSCG.”
NSCG is the first further education provider in England to achieve the top grades in every area of Ofsted’s recently reformed Education Inspection Framework (EIF). Ofsted’s inspection report, published on 14 November 2019, praises all areas of the College’s provision and acknowledges NSCG’s ‘positive, stimulating and safe learning environment’, ‘highly motivated staff’, and ‘learners’ exemplary behaviour and attitudes to learning’.
At NSCG’s Stafford College campus, you can study every-type of post-16 qualification possible, including A Levels, vocational qualifications and apprenticeships, which all can be studied in a wide-range of subjects, all designed to prepare you for life in the workplace or university.
To attend the Virtual Open Event, visitors must pre-register online ahead of the event taking place on Saturday 20 June, between 10am and 12noon. To pre-register, click here.
Our students love being a part of NSCG and together we’re always sharing their college experiences and achievements for everyone to see, and more importantly, for you to see. Their world. Their freedom. Their joy. Their life. Their excitement. Make it yours. #MyNSCG
