Matthew, who has Dyspraxia, first began volunteering for Stafford Town Football Club back in 2013 when his father became the manager of the Girls Under 15’s team and since then has continued to dedicate many hours to the club to help maintain and build the online presence of the team.
Matthew said: “I decided to make sure we have the most up-to-date website in the league and club. I updated it with fixture details and match reports. I also used social media to promote girls football and training sessions which improved numbers. I help out on match days and training with paperwork and equipment as well as many other jobs."
On winning the award Matthew said; “When they called my name out as the winner, it came as real a shock to me as I wasn’t expecting to win!”
Liam Clarkson, Foundation Studies Lecturer at Stafford College, said: “Matthew is a hardworking enthusiastic student who is always willing to excel in his studies. He has met his challenge head-on and this award showcases his ability to help others and work hard in every aspect of his life. Everyone in the Foundation Studies department are very proud.
