On Wednesday 16 May, students studying the BA (Hons) and Foundation Degree in Contemporary Creative Practice courses at Stafford College in partnership with Staffordshire University, got the chance to exhibit their work to staff members, family and friends at the official opening of the College’s annual Arts Degree show.
The six day long show showcases the work of students from a wide-range of creative disciplines including design, craft, fashion, fine art, graphic design, illustration, photography and surface pattern design. The show will be open to members of the public and is located on the ground floor of Stafford College’s Riverbank building from Thursday 17 June until Wednesday 23 June from 9am until 5pm.
Michelle Wilson, Curriculum Leader for HE Contemporary Creative Arts at Stafford College, said: “I am overwhelmingly proud of the students. Their hard work has come together in a fabulous, professional, exhibition celebrating the diversity of the creative industries and reflects the breadth of specialisms we cover here on the Contemporary Creative Arts Degree programmes.”
BA (Hons) Contemporary Creative Practice (Top-up) student, Erica Crompton, aged 37, from Basford, said: "I’ve thoroughly enjoyed studying at the College and the Arts Degree Show gives me the perfect opportunity to celebrate my achievements and the end of the course with my peers. I experienced a few personal issues during my first year at the College but the staff were really supportive and helped me to get where I am today. My work has gained a lot of attention from the local press and I believe I am better adjusted as a person and artist since completing my BA (Hons) degree at the College."
The BA (Hons) Contemporary Creative Practice (Top-Up) course is taught by experienced industry professionals and has been designed specifically for students who have completed a Foundation Degree (or equivalent) with a subject specialism in a Creative Industries area and who wish to achieve an Honours Degree. The course includes industry-focused assignments and personal and professional development, and enables the production of an employment orientated subject-specific portfolio.
Our students love being a part of NSCG and together we’re always sharing their college experiences and achievements for everyone to see, and more importantly, for you to see. Their world. Their freedom. Their joy. Their life. Their excitement. Make it yours. #MyNSCG
