Talented carpentry students from Stafford College have won multiple regional and national awards at this year’s Carpenters Craft Competition and were presented the awards at a glittering awards ceremony held at Carpenters Hall in London on Wednesday 6 November.
Level 2 Diploma in Woodwork student, Eóghan Marriot swooped first place in the Under 20s category winning £500 prize money alongside fellow student, James Winter who came in at second place receiving £240. In the Over 20s category, Level 3 Diploma in Site Carpentry student, Jordan Dimmack came third place and was awarded £200.
The Carpenters Craft Competition is a national competition run by the Institute of Carpenters and is open to students of carpentry, joinery and shop fitting. Success in this prestigious competition gives students a head start in their chosen vocation having achieved official recognition of their exceptional skills and high calibre workmanship.
The renowned competition provides students up and down the country the chance to showcase their work and have it judged by leaders in the field. With prizes of up to £500 available, the competition aims to encourage and reward highly motivated students who are prepared to go that extra mile to achieve the highest possible standards.
On the success of the students, Carpentry and Joinery Lecturer at Stafford College, Phillip Powell, said: “The students were praised for the exceptionally high standards of work that they demonstrated during the competition and I am hugely proud of what they have achieved.”
