Celebrating International Women's Day 2022, former Creative Arts learners from Stafford College tell us how studying their chosen course has inspired them in their chosen careers.

Amy Parker

Course studied: Level 3 Extended Diploma in Film, TV and Creative Media Production

Job title: Digital Content Creator at Birmingham University

"In my role, I edit, film, animate and photographic content for the university and outside clients. I am also a freelance video editor, where I edit for content for big youtubers. I have had experience creating content for some amazing companies like Digital Spy, Cosmopolitan, Elle & Women’s Health.

Stafford college gave me the tools, knowledge and motivation to pursue my career. I explored topics that interested me and made me look forward to my working career. I look back at my time as Stafford college as some of the best years of my life. I was really lucky to have the best lecturers, amazing peers and the room to be creative!"

Georgia Wickremeratne

Course studied: Level 3 Extended Diploma in Film, TV and Creative Media Production

Job title: Programmes and Community Manager at The Other Box

"Stafford College empowered me to explore my career by allowing me to have fun. Fun inspires creativity. I get creative with my writing. I've used this to change my life for the better. I know my words have impacted the lives of others for the better too. I'm proud of myself, and of what I do."

Laura McKie

Course studied: Level 3 Extended Diploma in Film, TV and Creative Media Production

Job title: Production Secretary

"I'm a Production Secretary looking to step up to Assistant Production Coordinator in the near future. In my job, I look after all travel and accommodation for all Cast. I'm one of the Cast's main point of contact and work closely with the 2nd Assistant Director to organise the logistics for all transport for Cast and crew. Sounds simple but I can ensure you I'm forever busy! I've recently worked on BBC 1 Family Drama 'Dodger' which is now on IPlayer and I'm now working on Warner Bros new series of Waterloo Road S11.

Studying at Stafford College gave me the fundamental lessons I needed to be able to further my career. It gave me a good education which helped me get into the university of my choice, and gave me the opportunity to move from living in a small town (Rugeley) to then being accepted into Salford University in MediaCity."
