NSCG has launched a Virtual Work Experience programme to enable students to boost their employability skills.
Current Covid-19 restrictions means that NSCG students are unable to undertake work placements in the way that they would normally so the programme allows them to develop vital skills and meet their required work placement hours.
The programme was designed and created in conjunction with Springpod, and has content input from professionals from Staffordshire University, Positive Ewe and Horizon Coaching. Learners current have access to five core modules, giving them the opportunity to enhance their core employability skills during their time at college, ultimately helping them progress into their chosen career. These modules include confidence building; world of work preparation; placement expectations; personal branding; and the future.
Andy Snape from the NSCG Work Placements team said: “We are delighted at the success of the initial trial involving over 500 students. The aim now is to reach as many students as we can, most of whom did not get the opportunity for real life work experience due to the current restrictions. Our overriding objective, in line with Gatsby benchmarks, is to ensure our students are professionally ready for their real work experience, part-time jobs and in turn future careers.”
Student Nathan Martin said: “I have found all of the modules very useful. The videos were a great help to increase my knowledge of work placements and help boost my confidence. It was a pleasure participating in and completing the given tasks and I will definitely use the skills I’ve gained.”
Jenni Holmes, Customer Success Manager at Springpod said: 'Working with NSCG has been fantastic. The Work Placement team have created something that will help every single one of their students on their journey to their chosen career and Springpod have loved putting it all together in the platform. Students have been engaging in different activities, taking assignments away, and progressing through quizzes and videos in the programme created, all in one easy to access place.”
Our students love being a part of NSCG and together we’re always sharing their college experiences and achievements for everyone to see, and more importantly, for you to see. Their world. Their freedom. Their joy. Their life. Their excitement. Make it yours. #MyNSCG
