Creative Arts students and staff from Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group (NSCG) have launched a public art auction to raise vital funds for the UNICEF ā€˜Aid for Ukraine’ appeal.

The charity art auction due to be held simultaneously at both NSCG’s Newcastle College and Stafford College sites on the evening of Thursday 7 April, between 6pm and 8pm will feature art work donated in a variety of forms and subject matter by students, staff (both past and present) and guest artists to support those directly affected by the war in Ukraine. All proceeds will go directly to the UNICEF appeal, set up to help provide emergency medical services, critical medicines, health supplies, safe water for drinking, shelter and protection for children and families displaced from their homes.

On the evening of the event, work will be on display for public viewing. Bids can be placed in writing with contact details in envelopes next to the work or in advance by email to mike.kelly@nscg.ac.uk. The highest bidders will be contacted for payment and collection of their winning bids on Friday 8 April. There will also be a selection of prints and postcards for sale during the event.

Members of the public are invited to attend the event and can also preview the collection in advance online via this link: https://bit.ly/3LzFQbu.

In the run up to the auction, NSCG will also be showcasing featured artists on the college’s Facebook, Instagram and nscg.ac.uk website over the coming days.

Mike Kelly, Group Head of Creative Studies said: ā€Many of our creative staff and students expressed an interest in fundraising from the outset of the war in Ukraine. An art auction, via sealed bids felt like the right way for us as a group to show our support for innocent people caught up in this horrific situation. We’ll be inviting staff, parents, local businesses and other friends of the college to join us between 6pm and 8pm to view and place bids on work, which will be in a wide range of formats and styles, including photography, print and paintings. As well as being a good cause, the events will offer art lovers the opportunity to purchase original artwork by highly creative practicing arts and stars of the future. Bids are also welcomed on spotlight pieces via our college social media feeds.ā€
