Learners from our Life Skills course at Newcastle College, have been busy with their one-week Home Learning Challenge, designed to help them to stay active and to show how creative they can be in completing set challenges.

Students have been busy working their way through their challenge list at home to try and complete as many tasks as possible. An important part of their challenges is to demonstrate a ‘Take Care’ approach ensuring they are respectful towards other people when completing each task.

Rob Sigley, Curriculum Leader for Life Skills and Employment, said, “Students are now busy completing a variety of challenges set, which include reading a book in a really unusual place, writing a rap or song, have an indoor treasure hunt, help someone with a chore, and make a fitness routine. Students have 30 challenges to choose from, which form the Home Challenge. There will be three awards that students can achieve, Gold, Silver and Bronze, depending on how many tasks they are able to complete within the timeframe set.

“This is a brilliant challenge as students can work with loved ones to complete the tasks, whilst learning skills important skills in recording evidence of their work, develop planning and time management skills and most of all having fun! Prizes will be available for students who are able to complete the Home Challenge once we are back in college.”
