Stafford College, part of Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group (NSCG), will be welcoming visitors to their Foundation Studies Open Event on Wednesday 2 May, 5pm - 7pm, to help prospective students learn more about the programmes on offer and support available to learners.

The Foundation Studies Open Event is open to young people who are looking to study an Entry Level or a Level 1 qualification at Stafford College. The College’s Foundation Studies programmes are designed to support young people with learning difficulties and those that may not have reached their full potential at school by increasing their confidence and developing independent living skills whilst learning about a specific subject or industry.

Stafford College offers Entry Level and Level 1 qualifications in a variety of subjects, including Art & Design, Business, Catering, Childcare, Construction, Hairdressing & Beauty, Health & Social Care, IT, Performing Arts, Public Services, Sport and Vehicle Mechanics.

The College also provides a range of specialist, one-to-one support for students and Foundation Studies courses are taught in smaller class sizes to help students develop the skills needed to reach their learning goals.

Mel Aubrey, Curriculum Leader in Foundation Studies at Stafford College, said: “We are extremely excited to be able to provide a range of different vocational pathways in our foundation studies provision this coming academic year. There is so much opportunity for students to not just study in a subject area of interest but to develop confidence, life skills, social skills and independence.”

At the Foundation Studies Open Event, visitors will be able to take a tour of the College’s top-class facilities and speak with teaching and support staff to get a real understanding of how Stafford College deliver Foundation Studies programmes.

The College’s state-of-the-art facilities include the recently renovated Science & Technology Centre. Covering four floors, top-class facilities include robotics suites, biology, chemistry, physics and engineering laboratories, IT suites and a LEGO® Education Innovation Studio. In the College’s Riverbank building, a brand-new Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy Academy has been created as well as new socialising spaces for students, which includes a Coffee Lounge serving Costa Coffee and a refurbished food hall.

The Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group (NSCG) has some of the best results in the county. A Level pass rates place them in the top 10% of further education colleges in the country, with an above average pass rate of 98.8%. The group’s apprenticeship results make them the 8th best further education provider for apprenticeships in England. Stafford College’s vocational results alone include a 98.1% pass rate with 178 students achieving a triple distinction grade or higher, which is equivalent to three A/A*s at A Level.
