Students studying the BTEC Extended Diploma in Business at Newcastle College were awarded first place at Edge Hill University’s ‘Edge Ahead Competition’ on Wednesday 18 April.

The students were faced with bringing an autonomous vehicle to market for Jaguar Land Rover, which was the task set by lecturers at Edge Hill University. Competing against students from Stoke on Trent College, Southport College and Blackpool College, Newcastle College students wowed judges with their pitch and presentation, showing business acumen and enthusiasm to the project, which landed them with a first place win.

Charlotte Thompson, Curriculum Leader in Level 3 Business at Newcastle College, said: “I’m so proud of our students! The judges were really impressed with the students as they applied their marketing, finance and economics knowledge, which they have gained at Newcastle College, in their presentation.”

Newcastle College offers a range of Business courses including vocational qualifications, A Levels and university-level courses.
