A group of Level 3 Business students from Newcastle College have booted up to embark on a 10-mile charity walk to raise money for the Douglas Macmillan Hospice.
As part of their ‘Managing an Event’ unit, students; Skye Parker, Declan Ashley, Ellie Booth, Tom Williams, Tom Kemp, Tom Hawkins and Kaleem Hussain, have worked together to plan their route from Newcastle College to the Douglas Macmillan Hospice in Blurton, before heading back to College. As part of the project, students have been required to produce an event safety plan, outlining their route, ensuring current Covid-19 guidelines are met.
Commenting on their event, Skye Parker said: “We are hoping to raise as much money as possible for the charity through the charity walk, proudly wearing our Dougie Mac t-shirts. We initially set ourselves a target of £200 for this brilliant local charity, which we have already smashed, so fingers crossed we can raise even more money.”
Nicola Stanway, Curriculum Leader for Level 3 Business said: "I'm extremely proud of the team's efforts which will make a huge difference to the charity. The whole team have worked really hard on this unit, which can only stand them in good sted for their future progression. The world of event planning requires attention to detail and lots of hard work, and the whole group have really shown how to pull together as a team."
