Students from Newcastle College’s Level 3 Business course have been busy arranging a charity leg wax and head shave for Mind UK, as part of their ā€˜Managing an Event’ unit.

Aiming to raise £150, Business students Alice Thomas, Gabby Reece, Kaia Barber, Taio Kerr and Oliver McNulty have persuaded fellow students to have their legs waxed for this worthy cause, whilst Business lecturer Daniel Turner chose to have his head shaved as part of the fundraiser.

Commenting on their fundraiser event, student Kaia Barber said; ā€œOver the last year, we have all realised how important it is to look after our mental health. As part of our course, we have been tasked with arranging an event and we thought it would be fantastic to raise money for MIND UK.

ā€œDuring Covid-19, people's lives have been turned upside down and this has really affected everyone's mental health, especially being sat alone and isolated from families, so hopefully our event will raise lots of money for the charity.ā€

Alice Thomas added: ā€œWe have really enjoyed working as a team on this unit. We have learnt really useful skills in pulling together risk assessments, working up contingency plans and co-ordinating the event with the Beauty Salon, so thanks to the Level 2 Beauty students also for helping us out with the leg waxing.ā€
