We understand that starting college can be a little overwhelming, so we've put together this handy FAQ to let you know what to do during GCSE Results Day and our Enrolment process.

Where and when can I collect my GCSE results if I studied at NSCG?

At Newcastle you can collect your results from our Performing Arts Centre (opposite the main building) from 9AM*.
At Stafford you can collect your results from the Riverbank Building Library (LRC) from 8.30AM*.

*Times may vary, students will be notified prior.

What do I need to bring with me on GCSE Results Day?

On GCSE Results Day (Thursday 25 August 2022) when you come to enrol at either Newcastle or Stafford College. If you have applied to the College already, you will be invited onto campus on Thursday 25 or Friday 26 August 2022, where you'll need to bring your results slips for all your GCSE qualifications and any other previous qualifications you may have attained.

If you haven't yet applied to study at NSCG, don't worry - there is still time! Simply pop into either Newcastle College or Stafford College on Thursday 25 or Friday 26 August between 9.30am and 4.30pm and speak to our expert staff.

I’ve lost my enrolment information who do I need to contact?

If you've lost your enrolment letter sent to you with your date and time to enrol, you can come to enrol at either of our campuses at any time Monday - Friday from 9.30am - 4.30pm, starting on Thursday 25 August. Just speak to a member of staff and we'll be happy to help.

What if my GCSE or other exam results are not as good as, or better than, I was expecting?

If you do not achieve the exam results you were hoping for, it is important you still attend your enrolment and we will help you to enrol on to another suitable course. We offer a number of courses at different levels, so do not worry, there will be a course for you at the College.

If your exam results are better than you had expected (well done you!), we will refer you to a suitable course depending on your grades.

What should I do if I have been offered on more than one course?

Speak to us on your enrolment slot provided on your letter and we will be able to help advise and finalise your choices.

Can I change the course I originally applied for?

Sure! Don't worry if you've changed your mind. If you meet the entry requirements and there are available places on the other course you'd like to enrol on, we'll make that happen. It is important that you attend your enrolment or visit the College in person to do this.

I haven’t applied to NSCG is there still time?

Yes, there is still time. We have a number of courses available. If you meet the entry requirements and there are available places on the course you'd like to enrol on, we'll make that happen.

How do I withdraw my College application?

Come in person to your chosen campus and speak to our Information Point teams.

Can I apply for financial support to help with my course?

Our Student Services team will be on hand throughout the enrolment process to speak to students looking to apply for financial support. For more information about the types of financial support on offer, click here.

How do I order a uniform if required for my course?

On applying for your course, you will have been issued a letter from your faculty administrator detailing how to purchase clothing for your course if required. If you have not received this or have made a late application, speak to a member of your subject staff at your enrolment for details.

How do I process my DBS if required for my course?

On applying for your course, you will have been issued a letter from your faculty administrator detailing how apply for a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) if required. If you have not received this or have made a late application, speak to a member of your subject staff at your enrolment for details.

When does my course start and when will I receive my timetable?

The first day of the new academic year in September will be Monday 5 September. When enrolling onto your course, you will be given a day and time to attend. Your first day at college will be specific to your chosen course and group, so your first day at college may be after Monday 5 September, but it will be one day that week.

On your first day at college, you'll also be given your timetable.

I'm on holiday or cannot make it when I'm meant to enrol, what do I do?

If you're soaking up the sun or have an important commitment you can't rearrange, you need to do the following:

Either email/telephone all of your results to the contact details provided on your enrolment letter

Or send a representative with your results to your chosen college campus.

IMPORTANT: If you haven't got the results required for your chosen course, you will need to get in touch with the College, either in person or by calling the main switchboard.

I’m worried or concerned about starting college - is there anyone I can talk to?

I'm interested in Sport, does the College have any teams I can join?

We're pretty big into sport at both of our campuses. Your journey is up to you, whether you want to compete, coach, volunteer or just keep fit and have fun, the choice is yours. You decide what you want to study and where sport fits in. It’s not about choosing between studies and sport. For more information click here.

I'm starting a Higher Education (HE) course at NSCG, what do I need to do?

Check whether you still need to send a copy of your GCSE results to either NSCG or Staffordshire University - we'll have told you if you need to do this. You'll then receive a letter through the post containing your start date, which is usually week commencing Monday 12 September.
