Foundation Studies, Life Skills and Employment Training

We offer a range of tailored programmes for school leavers and young adults at all levels of ability and also those with learning difficulties and/or disabilities.

You will be guided onto the most appropriate course to ensure your personal needs are met.

Depending on your needs we offer Foundation Studies courses, Life Skills and Employment Training courses and Supported Internships.

Foundation Studies

Our Foundation Studies courses are vocational programmes giving learners the opportunity to gain an Entry Level 3 or a Level 1 qualification in a range of subject areas. These courses offer progression onto higher level programmes and all learners have the opportunity to improve and gain maths and English qualifications.

Life Skills and Employment Training

Our Life Skills and Employment Training curriculum offers opportunities for students who are working at Entry Level 1 to Entry Level 3. Students who access this provision have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and join the college to develop their life skills and employability prospects.

Our goal is to prepare learners for adulthood and we'll do our best to support students in seeking employment opportunities at the end of the programme. We work extremely hard to ensure students are in the best possible place to access opportunities for employment, develop independent living skills and increase community inclusion.

Supported Internships

Our Supported Internships help students aged 16-25 with a disability to take a step into paid employment. Supported Internships are structured study programmes intended to enable young people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities to achieve sustainable, paid employment by equipping them with the skills they need for work through learning in the workplace.

Student success rates on all of our Life Skills courses exceed national benchmarks.

Overall pass rate of 100%.

I studied Level 1 Business and IT when I first came to college and struggled with communication difficulties. However I progressed onto the Level 2 Diploma in Art and Design which is I didn't think was possible when I first started.

I have loved my internship so far. Working at Cineworld is great for me because I love working with customers. I can really see my confidence and employability skills growing, which is great.
